Eugene P. Wilkinson | Spectroom [Video]

Vice Admiral Eugene Parks “Dennis” Wilkinson, U.S. Navy was selected for three historic command assignments. The first, in 1954, was as the first Commanding Officer of the USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear submarine. The second was as the first Commanding Officer of the USS Long Beach, America’s first nuclear surface ship. The third was in 1980 when he was chosen as the first President and CEO of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) from which he retired in 1984.

In this video Dr Ainhoa González Del Campo and Dr Riki Thérivel give a synopsis of Research 391: Tiering of Environmental Assessment – The Influence of Strategic Environmental Assessment on Project-level Environmental Impact AssessmentProject abstract: Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) aim to identify and mitigate environmental impacts resulting from the implementation of plans and programmes before they are adopted. This research was based on a literature review, interviews with 28 international and Irish experts, and a review of 19 Irish case studies. The research identified a range of good practice approaches to impact assessment tiering, which can be summarised as better communication between SEA and EIA practitioners.All EPA reports are available to download: https://www.epa.ie/publications/research/
