FFMVic has delivered approximately 35 kilometres of new permanent Strategic Fuel Breaks (SFBs) around the coastal townships of Lorne, Aireys Inlet and Anglesea to better protect them from bushfires. The breaks will build on existing tracks in the area, and effectively complete a ring of fuel reduced land around the towns from where fire management activity can be undertaken closer to key assets, including back-burning, planned burns, mulching and slashing. The project is funded by the Victorian Government through Safer Together and has been developed and will be implemented collaboratively with communities, CFA, FFMV (Parks Vic and DELWP), Colac Otway Shire, Surf Coast Shire, and Regional Roads Victoria.
