Wind Power, Explained [Video]

Wind power is a definition of cheap and clean energy. Working on the wind, it’s not only doesn’t emit any emissions but also makes the fuel price practically zero. It’s one of the fastest-growing renewable energy sources, and for a good reason. But it’s not perfect, and there are plenty of problems that need to be addressed. While the fuel is free, catching it costs taxpayers billions of dollars. There is also an open discussion about what we’ll do with thousands of wind turbines once they reach the end of their lifetime, which is pretty short, about 20 years. However, at the same time, there are still a lot of great things about wind power. I’ll talk about it all in this video.Dispelling The Myths About Nuclear Power: https://youtu.be/mO3FXpe7EM0Fusion Power, Explained. Vulnerable to climate change, New York constructs seawall • FRANCE 24 English [Video]

After major storms highlighted New York’s weaknesses in the face of climate change, the city is erecting a $1.45-billion system of walls and floodgates to protect it from rising sea levels. Superstorm Sandy in 2012 was the trigger for establishing the East Coast Resiliency Project, running four kilometers along the shoreline of Lower Manhattan.🔔 Subscribe to France 24 now: https://f24.my/YTen🔴 LIVE – Watch FRANCE 24 English 24/7 here: https://f24.my/YTliveEN🌍 Read the latest International News and Top Stories: https://www.france24.com/en/Like us on Facebook: https://f24.my/FBenFollow us on Twitter: https://f24.my/TWenDiscover the news in pictures on Instagram: https://f24.my/IGen

What the Hockey Stick missed about climate change [Video]

The infamous hockey stick figure was published in 1999. A new paper just blew it out of the water with an INCREDIBLE reconstruction. Learn how climate change altered human history on CuriosityStream! https://www.curiositystream.com/simonclarkYou may have already heard of the 1999 hockey stick created by Michael Mann, Malcolm Hughes, and Raymond Bradley. It’s a frequent skeptic talking point, and was involved in a whole scandal called climategate that rocked the scientific world. Eventually however it was validated by dozens of independent studies, and its conclusions accepted – the world is currently undergoing warming the likes of which humans have never seen before. Last month however, the hockey stick got an amazing upgrade. A new paper by Osman et al reconstructed the past 24,000 years of climate using new techniques, and gave us new insights into just how unprecedented anthropogenic global warming really is.You can support the channel by becoming a patron at http://www.patreon.com/simonoxfphysNOTES/REFERENCES(1) https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1029/1999GL900070(2) This is a simplification – tree rings can sometimes act as a proxy for temperature or for precipitation, depending on the typical climate at a location(3) https://geni.us/mannhockeystick(4) https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03984-4(5) I’m slightly oversimplifying here, what the paper did was attribute mechanisms to the principal components (PCs) of the temperature timeseries. PCs allow a signal to be broken down into components, ranked by size, that, when combined, reconstruct the signal. Solar and orbital forcing appears to be responsible for PC2, which was itself responsible for 3.5% of the total signal. The vast majority (over 90%) of the warming was accounted for by PC1, which could be explained almost entirely by greenhouse gases and changes in albedo.(bonus) Ars Technica did a nice article writing this up, if you’d like some more material! https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/11/scientists-extend-and-straighten-iconic-climate-hockey-stick/Check out my website! https://www.simonoxfphys.com/———- II ———-My twitter – http://www.twitter.com/simonoxfphysMy facebook – http://www.facebook.com/youtubesimonMy insta – http://www.instagram.com/simonoxfphysMy goodreads – http://www.goodreads.com/simonoxfphys———- II ———-Music by Epidemic Sound: http://epidemicsound.comThis video is about the hockey stick graph created by Michael Mann and his collaborators in the MHB99 paper reconstructing the earth’s past climate. I talk about how Mann missed key information in his analysis due to limitations of data at the time, and how instead of an eigenvector approach, a new study using Bayesian reconstruction paints a different picture of the Earth’s past. The planet has never been as warm as it currently is during the holocene, with the medieval warm period and the little ice age barely featuring in the timeseries of past climate. This new nature paper from Osman et al is really something, amazing new climate change science that highlights present global warming.Huge thanks to my supporters on Patreon: Andrew Knop, Shab Kumar, Cameron Grey, Brady Johnston, Liat Khitman, Jesper Norsted, Kent & Krista Halloran, Rapssack, abruptbanana, Kevin O’Connor, Timo Kerremans, Thines Ganeshamoorthy, Jerry Moore, Sam Harvey (the ever lasting student), Ashley Wilkins, Michael Parmenter, Samuel Baumgartner, Dan Sherman, ST0RMW1NG 1, Adrian Sand, Morten Engsvang, Josh Schiager, Farsight101, K.L, poundedjam, Daan Sneep, Felix Freiberger, Chris Field, Robert Connell, Jaime Stark, Kolbrandr, , Sebastain Graf, Dan Nelson, Shane O’Brien, Alex, Fujia Li, Harry Eakins, Will Tolley, Cody VanZandt, Jesper Koed, Jonathan Craske, Albrecht Striffler, Igor Francetic, Jack Troup, SexyCaveman , James Munro, Oskar Hellström, Sean Richards, Kedar , Alastair Fortune, bitreign33 , Mat Allen, Anne Smith, Rafaela Corrêa Pereira, Colin J. ‘Black box’ to hold world accountable for climate crisis is being built [Video]

An ‘indestructible’ black box will be built in 2022 to hold the world accountable for the Earth’s future, by recording humanity’s handling of the climate change crisis. The ‘Earth’s Black Box’ will be a self-powered data storage device to be built in the remote west coast of Tasmania and was first conceptualised by a creative agency in Australia.University of Tasmania has come on board to collaborate on the project which was inspired by an aeroplane’s flight recorder. The project comes after U.N. climate talks in Glasgow ended in November with a deal that kept alive hopes of capping global warming at 1.5 Celsius.Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheIndependentOnlineFollow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/IndependentFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.independentSubscribe to Independent Premium for exclusive content and live events: https://bit.ly/2MiOONB

DEMYSTIFYING THE UNKNOWN UNNOTICEABLE CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGES | ENSEMBLE IAS | K. SIDDHARTHA [Video]

Imitative lifestyle, Conscious consumerism is on the upswing, and so is a new throw-away culture, snobbish culture, imitative and colonial mindset with an attendant emphasis on diet that is not in sync with their environment and geography, living that is based on splurging, splurging of resources, money, and showering love and affection on animals more than anyone else.…have all created a world that is unbalanced, unliveable and unsustainable. While these are hardly understood, by the people who are actually a makor cause of global warming, they also do not wish to understand as wellThis is a society that chooses to use goods only once, and consumer goods are not designed for reuse or long-term use. This is a society that likes to travel and are hapless travellers with all attendant luxuries.Covid-19 has been one of the biggest lessons to the whole of mankind. During the pandemic, squelched social and economic activities led the global carbon dioxide emissions to drop by 6.4% or 2.3 billion tonnes. But, with people adapting to the new normal, things are getting back to motion.Fast fashion, Use of pets, Suburban living, and travelling contribute to global warming so much that it is hardly mentioned and hardly acknowledged by people. Incidentally these are the people who make maximum noises on climate change and register their complaints as well.An analysis by #K_Siddhartha, Strategic Thinker and distinguished Earth Scientist.Connect with us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/IASACADEMYENSEMBLEConnect with us Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/ensembleias/Telegram link:https://t.me/ENSEMBLEIASACAJoin the WhatsApp group for regular updates: WhatsApp linkhttps://chat.whatsapp.com/G3MuPj3HS4Y58srtZzbwcTTo know about ENSEMBLE IAS Academy’s Esteemed Academic and Advisory Panel.https://ensembleias.com/chief-mentor-advisors-teachers/To get access to some of our most sought after courses for Civil Services Examination.https://ensembleias.com/online-courses/Visit the link below to understand the Civil Services Examinationhttps://ensembleias.com/about-upsc/Join our FREE courses to kick start your civil services preparationFREE BULLS EYE PROGRAMME (your roadmap to Civil Services preparation)https://ensembleias.com/programs/bulls-eye-program/FREE NCERT Video Lectures (Revise your school basics)https://online.ensemble.net.in/s/store/courses/description/BUILD-A-STRONG-FOUNDATION-BY-NCERT-VIDEO-LECTUREFREE Prelims Exam Mock Test (Take the mock test to experience Prelims Exam)https://online.ensemble.net.in/s/store/courses/description/PRELIMS-EXAM#descriptionFREE Interview Program (Get a sense of how your interview is going to look like)https://ensembleias.com/programs/interview-program/Meet our Successful Studentshttps://ensembleias.com/ensemble-alumni/Join our Online Courses designed exclusively for Civil Services Aspirants.UPSC Prelims Test Series (updated)https://ensembleias.com/programs/upsc-prelims-test-series-2021/General Studies Geography for Prelims (updated)https://ensembleias.com/programs/g-s-geography-for-p-t/General Studies (GS) Foundation Coursehttps://ensembleias.com/programs/foundation-course/General Studies (GS) Geography for Mainshttps://ensembleias.com/programs/g-s-geography-for-mains/General Studies (GS) Mains: 500+ Answer Bank (understand what a perfect answer looks like)https://ensembleias.com/programs/gs-mains-500-answers-bank/Geography Optionalhttps://ensembleias.com/programs/geography-optional/Geography Optional Study Material (get all the material you need to prepare easily from your home)https://online.ensemble.net.in/s/store/courses/description/Study-Material—1#descriptionGeography Through Maps (World)https://ensembleias.com/programs/geography-through-maps-world/Geography Through Maps (India)https://ensembleias.com/programs/geography-through-maps-india/Quality Improvement Program (QIP) for Geography Optionalhttps://ensembleias.com/programs/qip-geography-optional/Environment, Ecology and Agriculturehttps://ensembleias.com/programs/environment-ecology-and-agriculture/Ethics and Integrityhttps://ensembleias.com/programs/ethics-and-integrity/100+ Essay Bank (updated with latest essays)https://ensembleias.com/programs/100-essay-bank/Our Books and Publications (contents of these books match exactly the syllabus of Civil Services)https://ensembleias.com/book/ ______________For more details :Best Online Coaching for Civil Service_IAS_ UPSC_IFS_IPS, Free Study Material ENSEMBLE IAS ACADEMYCall +91 98115 06926Visit us:- https://ensembleias.com/Online Store: https://online.ensemble.net.in/Email: ensembleias@gmail.com#climatechange #KSiddhartha #india #climateaction #climateemergency #climate #StrategicThinker #polymath #earthscientist #geography #GSPaper3 #cop26summit #COP26Glasgow #ensembleiasacademy #geographyoptional #k_siddharthasir #ias #civilservices #upsc_motivation #upsc_aspirants #upsc_exam

‘Earth’s Black Box’ Will Record and Store Climate Change Data [Video]

This agency is building a ‘black box’ that will store Earth’s climate change data — and it could record the end of the world.» Sign up for our newsletter KnowThis to get the biggest stories of the day delivered straight to your inbox: https://go.nowth.is/knowthis_youtube» Subscribe to NowThis Earth: https://go.nowth.is/Earth_SubscribeThe Earth’s Black Box will store data pertaining to climate change and how governments act (or don’t). Its algorithm will scour the internet and store climate change data, which its creators hope will both hold governments accountable, and serve as a record for future generations. The roughly 33-foot-long steel box will be built in 2022 on the west coast of Tasmania. It will be solar powered and built to withstand natural disasters. It was first thought of by Clemenger BBDO, a creative agency in Australia, which is collaborating with the University of Tasmania.#ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis #Apocalypse #Earth #Environment #Science #NowThisConnect with NowThis» Subscribe to NowThis News: http://go.nowth.is/News_Subscribe» Like us on Facebook: http://go.nowth.is/News_Facebook» Tweet us on Twitter: http://go.nowth.is/News_Twitter» Follow us on Instagram: http://go.nowth.is/News_Instagram» Find us on Snapchat Discover: http://go.nowth.is/News_SnapchatNowThis Earth is daily news coverage of climate, sustainability, biodiversity, species extinction, environmental justice, and other planetary concerns.NowThis is your premier news outlet providing you with all the videos you need to stay up to date on all the latest in trending news. Climate change adverts watered down for COP26 by major airports and train stations [Video]

When world leaders gathered in Glasgow at COP 26 last month, it was very clear what they were there to do – commit to urgent action to avert climate catastrophe.(Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe) But an advertising campaign designed to greet the delegates on arrival, with images of people on the climate frontline, was deemed too political, alarming and even sinister by major airports and train stations.Channel 4 News has seen correspondence that shows how imagery was rejected and wording changed – leaving the adverts watered down and sanitised. ———————– Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/Channel4News

How This Company Is Making Spaceflight Greener With Biofuels | Business of Climate Change | Forbes [Video]

Over the last 20 years, the same technology that has powered the revolution in smartphones has also powered a new generation of space technology. Billions of dollars of investment capital are now being poured into satellites which in turn is creating greater demand for rockets to send those satellites up to space with companies like SpaceX and Rocket Lab launching at a steadily faster rate. The increase in rocket launches also creates an increase in pollution, as the powerful engines burn fossil fuels like kerosene or methane to power them to the stars. But there are entrepreneurs looking to reduce that pollution. In comes bluShift Aerospace, which is makes bio-derived fuel-based rockets.Business of Climate Change explores the industries that are most implicated in climate change — and the companies working to fix that.
