Borneo Forum 10. Speaker No. 5 – Title: “Development and Success of Alternative Energy in Sabah.”
YB Adrian Banie Lasimbang, Former Senator (Malaysia Parliament) and Founder, TONIBUNG and CREATE Borneo.
Borneo Forum 10 : TOPIC:
*“Climate Crisis in Borneo: Climate Actions and Low Carbon Societies”*
The global concern over our planet means that every country must play its part in ensuring that it is developed in a sensible, timely and sustainable manner. The issues affecting our planet are no longer “climate change or emergency” but a “climate crisis”! Setting proactive policies and targets for reducing carbon emissions and a low carbon footprint, allocating funding to fight the climate crisis and promoting a green and circular economy through increased investments in environmental assets and green technology and production must all be properly planned and managed.
This Forum attempts to highlight some of the latest issues, challenges and solutions for the climate crisis affecting Borneo, and the countries that share the world’s 3rd largest island, which are Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
Thank you for joining us for this important forum, graced by our top local experts, and to be moderated by Boyd D Jouman, from Sabah, who has worked for Malaysia’s most successful economic corridor, Iskandar Malaysia, and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy. BF10 is also timely as some of our speakers will be going to the UNFCC Conference of Parties in Glasgow, Scotland (COP26) in November 2021. The Borneo Forum hopes to share the Forum’s themes at COP26 and locally.
